SPORTS

In Salesian College, we offer all students a compulsory double period of Physical Education  (from 1st Year until 6th Year) which gives access to a wide variety of sporting activities and experiences. Our objective is to increase the awareness, understanding, knowledge and participation of all our students  in  the  value of physical exercise and sport into their adult lives.

Through the years the school has  been involved in a wide range of extra-curricular sports, achieving many successes at national and international level. Currently we have representative school teams in the following sports:
Gaelic Football
Hurling
Soccer

Athletics
Basketball
Badminton
Table Tennis
Rugby

In addition to these teams, there are other sports available to students through internal competitions and practice. They include:
Golf Outing
Swimming
Futsal

Two of the biggest sporting events in the school calendar are the annual Road Race in October and the Sports Day in May. Both are outstanding events in the life of our school when the entire school community participates. They are supported by Parents' Association and staff involvement.  Past winners of the Road Race include current Irish International athlete Mark Kenneally.

We continue to compete at the highest level in all activities thanks to the commitment and enthusiasm of a great number of our staff. We continue to endeavour to give all our students, competitively and socially, an experience of a full range of sports.
