SOCIAL, PERSONAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION  (SPHE)

The college offers a wide programme of social, personal and health education.

In the first two years of the junior cycle, pupils have one period per week to study topics as various as integrating, communication skills, physical health, friendship, emotional health, influences and decisions and relationship and sexuality education.  3rd Year students are offered a module of Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) and substance use and personal safety. Transition year pupils study a life skills programme.

SPHE has a strong emphasis on personal safety which includes a bullying awareness programme to complement the school’s strong anti-bullying policy and the friendship week which will take place early in the first term.
