CEANGAIL & CINNIRÍ TEAMS 2020-2021
Salesian College prides itself on developing the leadership skills and talents of our students.
The school has two core leadership programmes, the Ceangail team and the Cinnirí team.
Our Ceangail team is made up each year of Leaving Certificate students who put themselves forward as school leaders.“Ceangail” means to connect. Being on the Ceangail team is a very important and special role.
The Ceangail team work with our new first year students. They play a key role in the Induction programme, they meet with their form group every day, they offer advice, guidance and support to new students. They also provide a good influence and a friendly face for the first year students in the school.
They organise different events for our first years throughout the year, the “First Year Night-In” is a wonderful event and gives the students the opportunity to develop their friendships with other students.
Their work is incredible and invaluable and we know that this role helps in the academic, social and personal development of our students.
Cinnirí take on responsibilities and duties in the day to day running of the school. At the end of each academic year, 5th Year students are given an application form to fill in and all students who apply are interviewed for the team. Candidates need to have certain qualities in order to qualify as a Cinnirí member. These qualities are numerous and vary from being responsible, reliable, punctual, trustworthy, articulate and influential in upholding rules and standards in the school to being a good listener and to be able to take on leadership. There are various sub-groups within the Cinniri team. Read more information about their roles and responsibilities here.
