PHYSICAL EDUCATION (P.E.)

In Salesian College, we offer all students a compulsory double period of Physical Education  (from 1st Year until 6th Year) which gives access to a wide variety of sporting activities and experiences. Our facilities comprise of:
  • 8 lane running track
  • State of the art long jump pit
  • 2 outdoor basketball courts
  • full size soccer and GAA pitch,
  • Large sports hall.
A designated area in the sports hall consists of five table tennis tables which is a popular area during lunch!
All students are taught a broad and balanced curriculum. Students will be actively involved in PE lessons and learn a variety of skills and tactics in a wide range of activities.

Reward System
At Salesian College, we encourage and facilitate our students to fulfill their potential in PE. We reward students who show a positive attitude and effort in PE lessons.
In Junior School (1st-3rd Year), students have the opportunity to achieve one of three Captain Armbands. The three students who excel in each lesson in terms of effort will each be awarded a captain’s armband. At the end of the lesson, students give back the armband with their journal; a positive note is written into their journal for his parents/guardian.

Analysis
At Salesian College, we strive to get the best out of students in Physical Education. The PE department use ICT analysis through Coach’s Eye. During lessons, the teacher will observe and give feedback on the application of the skill being taught, analysing the students technique through Coach's Eye.
Our objective is to increase the awareness, understanding, knowledge and participation of all our students  in  the  value of physical exercise and sport into their adult lives.
